20 dead and 100 injured at shooting at festival in Las Vegas


At least one gunman is reported to have opened fire on crowds at a music festival in Las Vegas, discharging hundreds of bullets using an automatic weapon.

According to The Independent, two festival-goers said they initially heard a noise “like firecrackers”, but it became apparent a shooter or shooters were unloading “clip after clip” into the crowd. One man insisted there were “multiple shooters” involved.

Police killed the gunman on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, said sheriff Joe Lombardo. Suspected shooter dead after attack that injured more than 100 people at music festival. The suspect’s name is now known to public but he is a local resident. Authorities are searching for a female companion seen travelling with the suspect before the shootings, he added. Two off-duty officers were among the dead.

Shooting broke out on Sunday night during the final performances of the three-day Route 91 Harvest music festival.
