DEAS turns out to be the Unknown Artist behind the acidtracks on „1997 EP”

Let me take you on a trip to the underground

There are undoubtedly many things for which I truly love the dance music underground. This culture has always been governed by its own laws, often far from the market rules, unpredictable for music bookmakers and managers with a calculator in hand.  There have always been amazing stories, when a dance track has been played in underground clubs only – known by a few DJ’s and selectors , but slowly started gaining popularity in more and more clubs. The track’s popularity grew until it was officially released, and very often its commercial potential turned out to be huge – it increased recognition and became an anthem, a future classic.
Sometimes – after official release – it suddenly topped the charts – such situations happened very often in the UK in the 90’s – e.g. after 2 years of circulation in the underground “Let Me Be Your Fantasy” by Baby D. jumped to the top of UK Top 40. Guys from Baby D watched UK Top 40 on MTV waiting till their single would come up as “new entry”. Slowly they lost their hope. And suddenly they realised their song made it straight to No. 1!

Planet Rhythm – success story since 1994

So there’s a brand new  interesting story behind the record called „1997 EP” (Unknown Artist) released recently by a Dutch label Planet Rhythm, found in 1994.
Planet Rhythm’s  currently owned by Triple Vision Music Group. The label was originally founded by Glenn Wilson back in the early 90’s in Sweden with the help of Adam Beyer, Umek, Gaetek, Thomas Krome, Slobodan & Patrick Skoog and many more local techno producers at the time. The label then changed ownership around 2005 to keep growing into its current form with more than 100 releases and a huge roster of modern day techno producers, with artists like Radial, Bas Mooy, Exium, Scalameriya, Sleeparchive, Emmanuel, Re:Axis, Christian Wünsch, Matrixxman, Oscar Mulero, Echologist, Woo York and many more both well known and upcoming artists.  With a steady stream of releases, Planet Rhythm has always played an important role, and it will continue to be a landmark, explore the boundaries , search for talent that design the future, and expand its catalog with strong, solid and often versatile techno.

Planet Rhythmreleases a banger EP „1997” by UNKNOWN ARTIST

„1997” is one of the latest  releases from this label. When they received the demo, they were absolutely delighted by the quality and power represented by 4 acid-tracks: „Blind Test”, „Target”, „Hidden” and „Drift”. Record label’s boss – Marco found the music amazing and decided to release it on vinyl. He took a risky step, too – he decided not to mention the artist’s name behind the EP . „Let the great music speak here for itself! Do not buy the name, buy the music!” And the distribution of the record in the hard Corona virus – time seemed to be also a big chellenge.
A&R of Planet Rhythm decided also to give the record a beautiful design to make it sound and look beautiful. „1997” turned out to be a best seller – selling over 200 copies in 2 weeks as pre-order! Record has been strongly  supported by such DJ’s as Len Faki, Marcel Dettmann, Nur Jaber, Dubfire and Anthony Pappa.
31.07. was the official premiere-day of the vinyl – and the author of music was… Unknown Artist.

On 10th of August the digital release followed – revealing the real name of the author: DEAS!

DEAS  – Cracowbasedproducer on a techno mission

DEAS (Materia, KMS, Planet Rhythm) –  young, breakthrough artist  based in Cracow/Poland, born in Greece is a music producer and DJ, who stands behind the EP. His productions received great feedback and are strongly endorsed by Len Faki, Ilario Alicante, Kangding Ray to name just a few. DEAS’s music is also featured and supported by such music magazines as Mixmag, Dj Mag, Big Shot Magazine, Decoded Magazine, Magnetic Magazine, Datatransmission etc.  Karol Mozgawa has also 2 residencies in Poland in two leading clubs: Smolna in Warsaw and  2.0 in Cracow.

„I was inspired by early works of Plastikman and Model 500. I decided to put the acid bassline in the first row, not in the background to make the track sound really massive. The title of the EP –1997 – means that I wanted to created the music trhat sounds like made in the 90’s, but seen through eyes and emotions of a young producer, filtered by the 2020-vibe” says Deas. And he adds: „ I love the organic growth of the popularity of this record, that’s an absolutely underground-culture-thang that we did here with Planet Rhythm. We based our PR and marketing on music only” says DEAS about producing „1997”.
