REITEN is launching a new experimental festival in Japan this April.
The Berlin- and Tokyo-based arts platform will put on Ensō at the Ōya History Museum, a former stone quarry from the Edo Period and now a cultural center in Utsunomiya, Tochigi. “Ensō,” according to the festival, is a Zen character drawn as a single-brushstroke circle to “express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create,” a theme for its programming.
From Friday, April 10th, through Sunday, the 12th, Ensō will host primarily live performances from Japanese and international artists across two stages. Lemna, Rabih Beaini, Tobias., Renick Bell, Ena, Katsunori Sawa and more will perform at the Underground stage. The Cave Listening stage will see the likes of Chloé Juliette, AKIRAM EN, Akey and 7e.
