Russian techno titaness Nina Kraviz opened up about how she feels techno is “underestimated” as a genre in her interview with the Guardian.
Pushing the boundaries of techno through her трип label since it launched in 2014, Nina became techno’s most divisive figure.
“When I DJ, I’m fucking alive,” Nina said, “All my channels are open. People think I’m on drugs, but I’m not – I’m just really experiencing it.”
“It’s a phenomenon, it’s as important as jazz,” Kraviz said about techno in the interview with The Guardian. “It’s incredibly rich, culturally, but it’s so underground that it took me 15 years to have even a little bit of a frame of reference. There are still areas that I don’t know about.”
‘People were suspicious of a pretty woman making music’
Sexist comments about her mixing skills and men leering during her live streams is still a thing “I try not to think about it, but the majority of people are maybe not that interested in music on a deep level.”
