Secluded to release ‘Frontier’ EP

Secluded is the eponymous artist and label project from Stephen Gorrie, who is also known to many as Hans Bouffymhre, owner of the influential Sleaze Records in Glasgow, Scotland.

This alias was launched in 2012 and has a new focus for his production style with strong Berlin and Detroit influences that has seen his original music on labels such as Slam’s Soma, Dustin Zahn’s Enemy and London’s EarToGround for example.

Enlisting reworks from leading artists including Jonas Kopp, Reeko, Truncate, Woo York, Markus Suckut, ROD, Shifted, Sigha and more, Secluded’s club ready sound is widely loved and always pushing forward to new heights.

Title track “Frontier” is bursting with energy and uses building piano stabs and delay to add layers over the throbbing beat. When it hits top gear, there’s a euphoric edge that takes hold, giving it an old school soul.

“Prominent” takes on a deeper and more serious tone with a plenty of power. Utilising dark atmospherics and a rare vocal sample, it’s haunting feel and hidden funk is destined for warehouse parties and lighting up dark rooms.

Track three “Arrow” has a thumping drive, skipping bass and sweeping undertones as the obscure, detuned melody springs into life. Angular and freaky, it’s unique sound is ultimately captivating making this an underground gem and one for the heads….

Frontier EP is out on 12 June.
