Review: Phil Fuldner – Stashbox [Mother Recordings]

German Phil Fuldner is a veteran in the house game. He has been knocking out the jams since the 90s and only for top labels like Get Physical, Stereo, Kitball or Snatch. Now he is on Berlin powerhouse Mother Recordings and comes correct with two hot new originals.

Stashbox goes first and is a vibe fuelled tune with some great vocal samples layered over warm and inviting beats. Draped with soul infused chords and run through with some dynamic bass, the whole thing really sweeps you off your feet in style. Then Start me Up goes a little more direct and driving, with loose elastic drums churning over and over. Saw tooth synths, white noise blasts and a funky b-line all get you on your toes and make for a slick and fresh modern jam. This then is a tidy EP.
